Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts awarded a contract to Whybin TBWA & Partners Pty Ltd for advertising account services for Tourism Tasmania.

The procurement had been run as a multi-stage expression of interest to shortlist marketing communications agencies capable of supplying advertising agency services (Part A), media services (Part B) and digital marketing services (Part C).

The contract scope and selection criteria required demonstrated capabilities in strategic planning supported by information resources; creative brand and tactical communications including brand extension and retail; destination and place-of-origin branding or similar category experience; tourism and travel sector experience; financial transparency and accountability; pro-active value-adding activities to increase visibility and reach; capacity to operate within government constraints; and experience coordinating with a wide range of stakeholders.

Submissions had to include company profile, ownership and legal structure, service capabilities, current client list and key agency personnel; initially shortlisted agencies were required to make credentials presentations and were evaluated against specific criteria, with a final shortlist to be asked to respond to a specific brief.
