Territory Generation awarded a contract to Asplum Pty Ltd for bulk earthworks at Owen Springs Power Station in preparation for the installation of a 12.1 MVA battery energy storage system (BESS).
The contract covered site preparation and bulk earthworks required to ready the site for the BESS, which was intended to reduce reliance on existing synchronous generation assets for the provision of Essential System Services.
Territory Generation noted that the work was expected to take some months and that early engagement of a suitable contractor was essential to avoid delaying the target commencement date of the EPI contractor.
Bulk earthworks served as an early-stage civil contract within the larger BESS installation program; awarding this work early aimed to mitigate schedule risk for subsequent equipment and installation contractors.
