Barwon Water awarded a contract to R Slater & Sons P/L for the supply and construction of approximately 5km of pipeline upgrade (Sections 19,20,21 & 25i (Stage 1) and 23 (Stage 2)) and all associated works, located primarily in the Great Otway National Park, with some works in the Otway State Forest and Colac Otway Shire road reserve.
The project required minimization of environmental impact and vegetation removal, with works contained within a constrained corridor and extensive use of no-go zones.
Construction was via open-cut and fill with minimized trench widths, and battering/benching only allowed where no impact to vegetation or Tree Protection Zones.
Cultural Heritage aspects were managed per the Cultural Heritage Management Plan.
