Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure awarded a contract to Cooper & Oxley Group Pty Ltd for the Construct-Only Forward Works package of the Bentley Health Service Surgicentre (BHSS) Project.

The contract comprised preparatory civil, services and architectural/structural works across the Bentley Health Service site.

Civil works included earthworks and ground improvements, creation of a building pad for the new Surgicentre, new at-grade car parking with stormwater drainage and modifications to existing parking areas, and landscaping and irrigation (planting, new paths and irrigation systems).

Services works included installation, relocation, decommissioning and removal of services and dewatering for deeper installations: electrical, communications and security services for new parking areas; new car park equipment communications cubicles and CCTV integrated with site systems; reticulation of new high-voltage cables from a Western Power HV switch room (by others); installation of transformers, site main switchboards, generator switchboards and diesel fuel pumps; required relocations of existing electrical services; construction of a mechanical compound for a future bulk oxygen VIE system; installation, testing and commissioning of underground high- and low-pressure medical gas (oxygen) pipework and decommissioning of existing high-pressure oxygen pipework; potable water service diversions and a new Water Corporation connection; fire-water services diversions; and a new sewer main connection to the Surgicentre site together with an upgrade of the hospital main sewer (including deep excavation).

Architectural/structural works included construction of a new transformer room and a Low Voltage Site Main Switchboard room.
