Department of Education awarded a contract to Tasmanian Polytechnic for the delivery of training under the 2010 Productivity Places Program Existing Worker Initiative.
The contract supported a joint Commonwealth–State program managed by Skills Tasmania that aimed to reduce skill shortages, increase productivity and efficiency of industry and enterprises, assist job seekers to acquire skills and lasting employment, and be responsive to the needs of enterprises and individuals.
Under the Existing Worker component, Tasmanian Polytechnic delivered Certificate III to Advanced Diploma level qualifications identified on the Productivity Places Program 2010 Priority Qualifications List.
Skills Tasmania had invited tenders from registered training organisations, industry bodies and employers for this component.
The Existing Worker component relied on contracted vocational providers to deliver priority Certificate III–Advanced Diploma qualifications; awarding this contract to Tasmanian Polytechnic reflected the program’s focus on engaging established training providers to address local skill shortages and upskill incumbent workers.
