About
The Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts awarded a contract to KPMG for the delivery of the Commercialisation Ready Program, which provides training in commercialisation skills and business development to managers and employees of existing and start-up Tasmanian SMEs.
The program aimed to increase the commercial success of innovative products, processes, and services, enabling businesses to expand into national and global markets.
KPMG was contracted to deliver program content over four rounds to 60–80 businesses, with each round including at least one revision day and a graduation day over a maximum of three months.
Assessment of participants' work and coaching of promising clients were integral components.
At the Department's discretion, rounds were held in Hobart, Devonport, or Launceston between May 2004 and June 2005, with a minimum of two rounds in Hobart.
This contract reflects a government investment in SME capability building, with KPMG leveraging its business advisory expertise to deliver commercialisation training, a niche area where professional services firms often compete.
