About
Main Roads Western Australia awarded a contract to Highway Construction (Highway Construction Pty Ltd) for the design and construction of the Coolgardie-Esperance Highway Upgrade at the Emu Rocks Section (SLK 50.00 to 79.50).
The works included road reconstruction and realignment, widening and overlay to improve geometry and pavement performance; installation of northbound and southbound passing lanes; intersection upgrades at Goldfields Highway and connecting roads; resurfacing; accommodation works; signage, line marking and audio tactile edge lines; road safety barriers; service relocations; replacement and extension of culverts; revegetation and rehabilitation; and enhanced aboriginal participation.
The cross section was an 11m seal on an 11m pavement meeting Main Roads and Austroads standards.
The contract required pre-qualification Roadworks R4 or higher and compliance with the Code for the Tendering and Performance of Building Work 2016 and the Australian Government Building and Construction WHS Accreditation Scheme.
This contract reflects Main Roads Western Australia's ongoing investment in upgrading regional highways to improve safety and capacity, with Highway Construction being a key contractor for such infrastructure projects.
