Department of Premier and Cabinet awarded a contract to Telstra Corporation Limited for a two-year extension of the existing Networking Tasmania (NT) II Head Agreement between the Crown and Telstra.
The extension covered the provision of network core and related ICT services only.
Other services under the original agreement, including network connection and internet services, were scheduled to expire on 31 May 2015 and were to be re-tendered in early 2015.
The extension preserved continuity of core network services with the incumbent provider; such short-term extensions commonly favor established telecommunications suppliers that already operate the network infrastructure.
