Lower Murray Water awarded a contract to Helix Engineering for the design of the Merbein Booster Pump Station at the Merbein GLS and TWPS site off Ranfurly Way, within the same fenced perimeter as the Merbein Main Pump Station (Irrigation) at the base of pump hill.
The scope addressed the end-of-life site switchboard and its PLC, RTU, radio, and VSDs; the switchboard was due to reach the end of its design life by 2028, and critical spares for PLC and RTU components were no longer manufactured, increasing failure risk and impacting Lower Murray Water’s ability to provide potable water to the Merbein township during spring and summer.
This award reflected lifecycle-driven design work to mitigate operational risk arising from obsolete control and electrical assets with unavailable spares at a critical water supply site.
