About
Power and Water Corporation awarded a contract to Energy Infrastructure for LV service deadend replacements in the Darwin region over a 12-month period.
The contract arose from a Feeder Inspection Program that identified a considerable number of services requiring urgent replacement to improve network safety, compliance and long-term reliability.
The Contractor was required to replace all identified services and associated hardware to current standards, conduct polarity checks and public safety checks on completion of each individual service replacement, and complete and submit all electronic paperwork associated with each service replacement.
Pricing was based on a Schedule of Rates: each service was priced as a unit rate covering all labour, plant, materials and associated costs, with the total contract price calculated as the unit rate multiplied by the total services in the package.
Any additional costs not included in the Schedule of Rates could only be charged on a fixed-rate basis by approved variation and when required and authorized by PWC’s Principal Representative.
The contract’s unit-rate structure and restricted variation mechanism indicated an emphasis on cost control and contractor accountability when remediating safety- and compliance-driven defects identified through inspection.
