About
Department of Logistics and Infrastructure awarded a contract to Exact Contracting Pty Ltd for urgent reinstatement works on Vaughan Springs propacc following flood events in the Alice Springs Region (Flood Event Rural Arterial Emergency - Feb 2026).
The contract required maintenance grading and isolated scour repairs between Ch.0km and Ch.70km to reinstate the road to its preexisting condition.
The works responded to closure of Vaughan Springs propacc after the floods, which had become a key access route when Yuendumu and Nyirripi access roads were closed; with Vaughan Springs closed local community members were unable to reach their communities and station owners were only able to leave via helicopter.
