Department of Logistics and Infrastructure awarded a contract to Polaris Marine Constructions Pty Ltd as The Trustee for Polaris Marine Constructions No.
1 for the maintenance of the Dundee Beach Boat Ramp and associated structures at Dundee Beach in the Darwin region for a period of 12 months.
The contract required maintenance of the boat ramp, concrete decks and sea channel so they were usable at a tidal height of 2.5 metres LAT (lowest astronomical tide) and above at all times.
It required maintenance of the fishing platform, jetty structure and surrounds so they were clean and free from algae and sand/mud build-up and clear of debris and rubbish.
The contractor was required to remove and dispose of sand deposits to ensure sediment levels at the base of the ramp and in the departure channel did not exceed 1.5 metres LAT.
The contract specified clear dredging and sediment-management thresholds alongside structural cleaning requirements, highlighting the need for routine coastal-maintenance and sediment-removal capability to preserve navigability and public amenity.
