About
Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management awarded a contract to Fine Entry Marine Pty Ltd for the purchase or design and construction of a new Offshore Police Patrol Vessel (OPPV) that met the Department's special needs requirements and specifications.
The vessel was intended to support Tasmania Police's marine responsibilities, including protection of fisheries and maritime industries, marine safety enforcement, search and rescue operations and State Security marine operations.
The OPPV was required to perform patrols and undertake search and rescue across all coastal and offshore Tasmanian waters, including Bass Strait, up to 200 nautical miles from the coast and to operate in extreme weather and sea conditions.
