Public Transport Authority awarded a contract to GBC Systems (GBC Systems Pty Ltd) for Coordination and Integration Services to the High-Capacity Signalling (HCS) Project.
The contract covered the provision of suitably skilled engineering personnel to support the PTA Project Delivery (PPD) Division by coordinating PTA engineering activities and integrating the new radio-based in-cab Automatic Train Control (ATC) signalling system into the Authority's operational and maintenance environment.
Under direction of the PTA's HCS Project Director, GBC Systems provided leadership, advice and support to perform planning, engineering, stakeholder engagement and assurance activities associated with the Project Management Engineering Team's (PMET) deliverables.
The HCS Project had been delivered under an Alliance contract model; at award the PTA had nominated a Preferred Proponent and was finalising the Project Alliance Agreement (PAA) and the Maintenance Support and Supply Agreement (MSSA).
The consultancy role reflected requirements for prior experience on complex signalling system projects and demonstrated capability in planning, design and delivery for public transport organisations.
The award reflected a preference for specialist signalling consultancies with prior experience in complex ATC and radio-based in-cab system integration, aligned with the alliance delivery model and the project's emphasis on operational and maintenance integration.
