About
Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions awarded a contract to All North Helicopters Pty Ltd for the provision of fixed‑wing turbine or piston‑engine aircraft with qualified pilots to carry out aerial ignition, fire support activities, charter services and other airborne tasks as part of DBCA's fire management operations.
The services were required principally for the Kimberley Region, with consideration for deployment to other regions within Western Australia as required.
Contracted aircraft could be based at various centres or airstrips during periods of hire, with a strong preference for the contractor and aircraft to be based at the Nominated Operating Base.
Services were generally performed during February to July, although some aerial charter services could be requested at any time throughout the contract term.
Contracts of this type typically favoured operators that maintained suitable fixed‑wing aircraft and qualified pilots, could base assets at nominated operating locations, and provided seasonal aerial fire‑management capability during the peak February–July period.
