Department of Logistics and Infrastructure awarded a contract to DAC Enterprises Pty Ltd for reforming, reconstructing and gravel resheeting the Phillip Creek property access road (Chainage 0.0 to 6.2 km), located approximately 46 km north of Tennant Creek via the western side of the Stuart Highway.
The works restored the road to its pre-flood condition following damage from Tropical Low 03U (January 2024, AGRN 1103) and Tropical Low 09U — Cyclone Megan (March 2024, AGRN 1116).
The scope required reform, reconstruction and gravel resheeting of the full 6.2 km length; repair of erosion scours and restoration of drainage infrastructure; desilting of existing drainage systems; importation and uniform placement of suitable fill to form a stable subgrade; and placement and compaction of a new gravel pavement layer 6.0 m wide with 200 mm compacted thickness, achieving a minimum 95% modified maximum dry density (MMDD) for the resheet layer.
The award packaged earthworks, drainage repair and pavement construction under a single civil contractor with explicit compaction and pavement specifications (200 mm thickness, 6.0 m width, 95% MMDD), indicating a standards-driven rehabilitation approach aimed at restoring functional access and improving resilience to future flood events.
