Department of Logistics and Infrastructure awarded a contract to DAC Enterprises Pty Ltd for flood restoration works on the Phillip Creek property access road, located approximately 46 km north of Tennant Creek and accessible via the western side of the Stuart Highway.
The contract reinstated the access road to its pre-flood condition following damage sustained during Tropical Low 03U (January 2024, AGRN 1103) and Tropical Low 09U / Cyclone Megan (March 2024, AGRN 1116).
The scope comprised reforming, reconstructing and gravel resheeting the full 6.2 km length from chainage 0.0 to 6.2 km; repairing erosion scours and restoring drainage infrastructure; desilting existing drainage systems; importing and uniformly spreading suitable fill to damaged sections to form a stable subgrade; and placing and compacting a new gravel pavement layer of 200 mm compacted thickness and 6.0 m pavement width.
The works required the compacted gravel resheet layer to achieve a minimum 95% modified maximum dry density (MMDD).
The award addressed post-cyclone restoration of a critical regional access road with specific earthworks and compaction standards (200 mm thickness, 6.0 m width, 95% MMDD), indicating emphasis on durable gravel pavement reinstatement for property access after flood events.
