Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment awarded a contract to Tas Marine Construction for remedial works to the inner timber section of the Darlington Jetty on Maria Island, which included the driving of new steel piles, installation of new precast elements, and construction of an insitu concrete jetty deck.
The scope of works also included remediation of existing piles and concrete breakwater panels.
The contract scope highlighted the need for specialist marine-construction capabilities—pile driving, precast element installation and in situ concrete decking—and combined timber and concrete remediation requirements.
