Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources awarded a contract to Hazell Bros Group Pty Ltd for the repair of landslides, embankment failure and associated drainage works on Lake Secondary Road and the Lyell Highway.
The contract addressed a significant landslip on Lake Secondary Road located approximately 800 m north of Nant Lane that had caused the closure of the westbound traffic lane, and a separate landslip on the downhill (western) side of the Lyell Highway that had encroached into the road formation and also caused closure of the westbound traffic lane.
Works focused on reinstating road formation, repairing failed embankments and restoring drainage to re-establish safe traffic lanes.
The award addressed two distinct landslip sites that had closed westbound lanes, underscoring the agency’s priority to restore route resilience and traffic flow through earthworks, embankment remediation and drainage reinstatement.
