Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management awarded a contract to Sabre Marine & General Engineers Pty Ltd for the replacement of the police vessel PV Freycinet.
The contract covered replacement of the 27-year-old PV Freycinet, which formed part of Tasmania Police’s fleet of about 38 vessels ranging from ocean-going vessels capable of operating up to 200 nautical miles to small inflatable vessels for inland lakes and rivers, with vessels positioned at strategic locations around the State.
The award responded to an urgent need to renew this ageing asset.
The award reflected routine fleet lifecycle renewal for a long-serving police vessel and the engagement of a specialist marine engineering supplier to deliver maritime asset replacement for Tasmania Police.
