About
This service must provide four (4) places for children and young people with complex support needs at any one time across two (2) outlets.
The service must provide one (1) worker (total of 16 hours per day) plus an eight (8) hour sleepover shift, at each location, 7 days per week.
This model is designed to allow for flexibility in rostering to best respond to the needs of the client group within the limits of the funding, for example reduction of support during school hours and then increase support as required at other times.
Children younger than 12 years may be placed in residential care but may only be considered for placement if comprehensive assessment indicates they have needs best met by residential care and/or they are one of a sibling group that would benefit from being placed together.
The service must provide culturally safe and secure support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people to ensure their cultural identity and connection to family and community is assisted and maintained.
The service will encourage children and young people to engage in education, training, or employment.
Where a child or young person is not engaged in education, training or employment, the service will support educational and/or vocational activities.
Where a service accepts a referral for a child/young person with a disability, the service must be satisfied that they have the ability to appropriately support the specific disability needs of that child/young person and work collaboratively with other service providers, as required, to implement any National Disability Insurance Agency plans Placement matching can be flexible with appropriately rostered models, to best respond to the needs of the client group and/or individual clients within limits of the funding provided.
