About

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development awarded a contract to Steelworks Manufacturing Pty Ltd for the supply and delivery of six new large specialist entomological cabinets to house DPIRD’s dried insect reference collection.

Each cabinet contained 50 large entomological drawers with glass lids; drawers were required to slide easily in and out.

Cabinets were specified to have double doors with a turning mechanism to close doors in place, a Dulux white satin finish, preferred metal construction for pest and environmental protection, and dimensions of 1723mm high x 1142mm wide x 543mm deep.

The contract specified goods had to be new and unused (no second‑hand or refurbished items unless otherwise specified) and required a minimum twelve (12) month warranty.

The cabinets were intended to replace original decaying cabinets more than 80 years old.
