About
Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment awarded a contract to Agilent Technologies Australia Pty Ltd for the supply, installation, commissioning and servicing of an inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry (ICP‑MS) instrument for the Analytical Services Tasmania (AST) Laboratories in New Town, Tasmania.
The instrument was intended for analysis of a broad range of metals across environmental matrices, including fresh and saline waters, wastewater and acid digests of solid matrices such as biota.
The contract covered delivery to AST, on-site installation and commissioning and ongoing service support to enable AST’s provision of analytical chemistry and biological testing and advisory services to state and local government agencies, industry and the public on a fee-for-service basis.
Procurement of complex laboratory instrumentation typically favoured suppliers able to deliver end-to-end solutions (supply, installation, commissioning and servicing); awarding to Agilent reflected selection of an established scientific instrument manufacturer to maintain AST’s metal analysis capabilities.
