Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources awarded a contract to University of Canberra for a consultancy to assess the Tasmanian forest industry.

The consultancy assessed the current and projected structure of the industry, including wood flow, processing and contracting activity and capacity and associated activities, analysed spatially by FT region; assessed current and projected direct employment in the industry, analysed spatially by region; and assessed current and future workforce capacity and sustainability based on analysis of workforce turnover, wellbeing, and skills needs analysed by industry sector, and on analysis of forest industry employment dependence in different communities.
