About
Department for Infrastructure and Transport awarded a contract to DOWNER EDI WORKS PTY LTD for the upgrade of the Arcoona rest area and the construction of a new rest area at Pimba on the Stuart Highway.
The works were located on the Stuart Highway in South Australia’s Far North, a rural arterial that forms part of the National Land Transport Network and provides the primary link between Darwin and Adelaide while serving as both a tourist route and a key freight route.
The project comprised construction of one new rest area (Pimba) and upgrade of one existing rest area (Arcoona) to provide additional opportunities for heavy and light vehicle drivers to safely stop and rest.
