About
Department of Logistics and Infrastructure awarded a contract to Exact Contracting Pty Ltd for the upgrade of a 34 km section of the Tanami Road in the northwest of the Alice Springs Region from chainage 421 km to 455 km.
The works involved upgrading the existing unsealed road to a two-lane sealed rural arterial, constructing a 9.0 m sealed carriageway on a 10.0 m formation within the extents of the existing road alignment.
The footprint of the works activities was limited to the Northern Territory Government owned road reserve, a 100 m width measured 50 m either side of the centreline.
The contract targeted a defined 34 km upgrade within NTG road reserve, reflecting focussed investment in regional arterial road sealing and requiring civil contractors with rural road construction and sealing capability.
