City of Burnside is seeking a supplier for detailed design services to modify two existing pedestrian crossings to include bicycle phases and any required supporting infrastructure, effectively creating Bicycle and Pedestrian Actuated Crossings (BPACs). In 2025 the City endorsed a Bicycle Network Plan (BNP) to create a safer and more enjoyable cycling experience for cyclists of all ages and abilities and encourage reduced use of cars; the BNP includes 3 existing east–west primary bicycle routes, 3 new north–south primary bicycle routes, 3 new or improved alternate bicycle routes and a number of secondary routes. The detailed designs are required for crossings at Fullarton Rd near Mulberry Rd / Elizabeth St and Portrush Rd near Fowlers Rd / Gilles Rd, and must be suitable for use by Council’s construction contractor to undertake the work in future years.
