The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (South Australia) is seeking applications from companies for prequalification to deliver social infrastructure building projects managed by its Building Projects Directorate. Prequalification is required before responding to listed tenders and is available at levels that reflect contract value and complexity; for projects under $50 million, a limited field of appropriately prequalified companies (typically 3–5) will be invited, while projects over $50 million may proceed via Expressions of Interest restricted to prequalified firms. Categories open include General Builders, Cost Managers, Professional Services Contractors (such as architecture and engineering disciplines), Asbestos Management Services (site inspectors, air monitoring and compliance), and Trade/Subcontractors (air conditioning and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, demolition and asbestos removal). Prequalification is notionally for three years and is subject to ongoing performance monitoring, with the Department able to request updates, reassess, downgrade, or withdraw status if standards are not maintained or circumstances change. Applications from new companies are now being accepted, and successful applicants must adhere to the South Australia Industry Participation Rules.
