About

Townsville City Council is seeking proposals for land within the Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct (LEIP) in Calcium, about 40 kilometres south of the Townsville central business district. The Precinct comprises approximately 2,200 hectares extending east from the Mingela State Forest and Lansdown Creek towards the Flinders Highway and is positioned for environmentally responsible advanced manufacturing, technology and processing activities. LEIP has strategic access to the Port of Townsville, major road and rail corridors, the North Queensland Gas Pipeline, the Woodstock Ergon Substation and planned industrial water infrastructure. The land was acquired by Council in 2001 after prior use by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation as a pasture research site, and since 2019 Council has undertaken open market processes that resulted in conditional land allocations.
