About
Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment awarded a contract to Fairbrother Pty Ltd for the alteration of the existing Animal House which forms part of the DPIPWE Animal Health Laboratories at Mt Pleasant, Prospect to form additional biosecure fish holding facilities for research and vaccine production for the Tasmania Salmon Industry.
The works were major and included demolition, installation of a new roof and concrete slabs, and construction of three new Fish Holding Rooms from insulated panels.
The contract also covered altered or new hydraulic, electrical and mechanical services, cladding, painting, steelwork and associated building works.
The works were anticipated to be completed by early September 2014.
The scope combined demolition, structural work and specialised mechanical/electrical services for biosecure containment, indicating the project required integrated construction and building-services capability.
