Department for Infrastructure and Transport awarded a contract to Civil & Allied Technical Construction Pty Ltd (Trading as CATCON) for the Hanson Road Access Upgrade (Contract 24C100, PSACB) as part of the River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project.
The contract covered delivering a new access road from the Hanson Road interchange to the perimeter of the proposed Gillman Spoil Recovery Facility (GSRF) site; maintaining access for nearby businesses including Wingfield Waste and Recycling Centre (WWRC), Cleanaway Wingfield Resource Recovery Centre, Opal Paper and Cardboard Recycling, Jeffries, ResourceCo (Gillman), Allied Waste Services, Adelaide Resource Recovery, and Royal Park Salvage; providing adequate queuing space for increased traffic turning into the WWRC; and improving safety for all road users in the area.
The scope included adding an additional northbound lane and redesigning drainage (swales and pond), including a swale to collect stormwater runoff from the new sealed pavement north of the Waste Management Centre intersection.
This package reflected T2D enabling works focused on access, traffic queuing, and drainage to support spoil recovery logistics while preserving business access in the Wingfield/Gillman industrial precinct.
