About

Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure awarded a contract to Windrush Yachts (Boldrace Pty Ltd) for the construction of four 5-metre mono-hulled sail training vessels to match an existing fleet.

The vessels are intended for service at the Marine Education Boatshed in East Fremantle, operating in the Swan and Canning rivers and Cockburn Sound, with biannual road transport to Denham for wilderness expeditions.

The vessels are designed for sail training, capable of carrying a 6 hp outboard engine, and must be easily launched and retrieved in tidal ranges from less than 1.0m to over 5.0m across varying terrains and launch ramp facilities in Western Australia.

Each vessel includes sub-deck lead ballast of 70kg and a centreboard casing for a one-design aluminium centreboard.
