Department of Lands, Planning and Environment awarded a contract to MAJOR PROJECTS FOUNDATION LTD for a 12-month, non-disturbance, diver-based survey of the World War II Macumba shipwreck located in 45–50 metres of water off the coast of Maningrida.
The scope included capturing high-resolution video and photographs of the entire wreck or key sections in consultation with Heritage Branch staff, and producing 3D photogrammetric models of parts or all of the site to support interpretation and understanding of site condition and processes.
This award reflected a need for suppliers with specialized diving capability at 45–50 metres and integrated data analysis/photogrammetry expertise for non-disturbance maritime heritage documentation.
