Public Transport Authority awarded a contract to ARUP (Arup Pty Ltd) for the detailed design of a bus lane on Riverside Drive.
The scope included stakeholder workshops, service investigations, topographical and cadastral surveys, geotechnical assessment, pavement and surfacing design, and road design to 100%.
The design focused on utilizing existing pavement to minimize costs, including asphalt milling, new surface coating, a left-turn slip lane for buses, revised line marking, red asphalting at the William Street intersection, and adjusted signal phasing for a bus head start.
A future bus lane option was also included.
ARUP's selection reflects its expertise in transport infrastructure design, particularly in optimizing existing assets to reduce construction costs and timelines.
