About
The Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment awarded a contract to Hydro Tasmania for the development of surface water hydrological models for selected Tasmanian catchments.
The project established daily surface water balance and routing models for catchments including Derwent River, Forth River, Huon River, Lake River, Liffey River, Meander River, Mersey River upper, Mersey River lower, Ouse River, Quamby Brook, Inglis River, Flowerdale River, Georges River, and Rubicon River.
These models support catchment water management plans and improve water allocation for human uses, industry, and the environment.
Hydro Tasmania, as a state-owned energy company with expertise in water management, is a natural fit for such hydrological modeling contracts, leveraging its existing knowledge of Tasmanian water systems.
