Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment awarded a contract to Pennicott Wilderness Journeys Pty Ltd for the development and operation of a high-quality commercial boat-based experience to provide transport for walkers and their gear undertaking the Three Capes Track within the Tasman National Park.
The operation provided transport for walkers from the jetty at Port Arthur Historic Site to Denmans Cove at the beginning of the Three Capes Track, and was to be extended to transport walkers from Safety Cove to Denmans Cove when the Cape Raoul section of the track became operational.
The contract covered delivery of a four day/three night walking itinerary that showcased the park's natural features and included a superior standard of accommodation intended to deliver an achievable walking experience with wider market appeal than Tasmania's other iconic bushwalks.
The award placed both boat transfer logistics and visitor accommodation/experience delivery for the Three Capes Track with a single commercial operator, centralising transport and on-track visitor services under the contracted supplier.
