Department of Treasury and Finance awarded a contract to Acumentis (WA) Pty Ltd (Acumentis) for provision of a panel of appropriately skilled and experienced valuers and experts to deliver timely, quality valuation advice to RevenueWA.

The services covered five categories: Category A – Real Property Valuers; Category B – Mining Tenements Valuers; Category C – Infrastructure Assets Valuers; Category D – Plant and Equipment Valuers; and Category E – Business Assets Valuers.

The valuations were used to support administration of the Duties Act 2008 (WA), under which duty is imposed on transactions involving land, mining tenements, rights and certain business assets, and where duty is often payable on the value of the dutiable property.

The Commissioner relied on external professional valuers to determine values and to provide advice or expert witness evidence of a standard and quality that could be relied on in assessments disputed by taxpayers, including proceedings before the State Administrative Tribunal and higher courts.
