Department of Education awarded a contract to BPSM for specialist architectural and engineering consultancy services in support of the Nation Building and Jobs Plan (Building the Education Revolution Program).
The consultant provided statewide coverage to assess the current condition of science and language laboratories for schools that had lodged funding applications; advised the DoE Project Assessment Panel in shortlisting projects for submission to the Australian Government; prepared applications for submission to the Australian Government using the prescribed application template on behalf of DoE; designed and documented facilities approved to proceed under the program based on standard templates; and worked with appointed building contractors during the construction phase.
The appointment required demonstrable experience in building or refurbishing contemporary school science and language laboratories.
Centralised specialist architectural and engineering consultancies were used to standardise assessment, application preparation, design documentation and contractor coordination across multiple school laboratory projects under the Building the Education Revolution Program, favouring firms with statewide capacity and prior school lab refurbishment experience.
