About
Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage awarded a contract to Archae-aus (Archae-aus Pty Ltd) for a desktop remapping of 50 Aboriginal Heritage site files to correct spatial capture issues on the Register of Places and Objects.
The scope included reviewing and analyzing the 50 files to determine suitability for remapping and to confirm Register accuracy.
For sites suitable for remapping from information held by the Department, tasks included lodging ACH submissions in ACHknowledge with a completed BN for the Registrar and a map showing existing and proposed boundaries, providing a shapefile for each remapped site, and updating the record keeping spreadsheet with the ACH Submission ID.
For sites not suitable for remapping, tasks included updating the record keeping spreadsheet with the rationale for non-remapping.
All tasks were to be performed in accordance with the Spatial Capture Correction Project Guideline, with the Department responsible for providing the specified items at commencement.
The desktop scope and required ACHknowledge/BN/shapefile workflow indicate these awards favor heritage GIS specialists experienced with Aboriginal heritage registers and compliance processes.
