Department of Logistics and Infrastructure awarded a contract to McMahon Services Australia (NT) Pty Ltd for the removal of the preschool building and Type A asbestos removal works at Pine Creek Primary School in the Katherine Region.

The works included setting up air monitoring around the removal site from pre-removal activities until clearance was granted post‑removal; hygienically cleaning and returning hard furnishings from the preschool (for example, tables and chairs); removing asbestos, demolishing and disposing of the preschool building in its entirety, isolating and terminating services at the site, and making good the building footprint.

The contract also covered removal and disposal of the gable end on the preschool sandpit shade structure and replacement with a suitable non‑hazardous material; removal and disposal of sagging ACM sheeting at the north‑east eaves of Block 1 (Store Building) and replacement of eaves lining with suitable non‑hazardous CFC sheeting and making good; and removal and disposal of the external veranda floor at Block 2 with replacement using a suitable non‑hazardous material and making good.
