Department of Logistics and Infrastructure awarded a contract to McMahon Services Australia (NT) Pty Ltd for removal of the preschool building and Type A asbestos removal works at Pine Creek Primary School in the Katherine Region.

The contract comprised establishing air monitoring around the removal site from pre-removal until post-removal clearance; hygienically cleaning and returning hard furnishings from the preschool (for example tables and chairs); removing and disposing of asbestos-containing materials (ACM), demolishing and disposing of the preschool building in its entirety, isolating and terminating services at the site, and making good the building footprint.

The scope also included removal and disposal of the gable end on a sandpit shade structure and replacement with suitable non-hazardous material; removal and disposal of sagging ACM sheeting at the north-east eaves of Block 1 (Store Building) and replacement of the eaves lining with suitable non-hazardous CFC sheeting and making good; and removal and disposal of the external veranda floor on Block 2 with replacement by a suitable non-hazardous material and making good.
