Moira Shire Council awarded a contract to Haring Constructions P/L for the replacement of the Mahoneys and Wallala Bridges and associated approach roadworks on Stewarts Bridge Road, Lower Moira.
The works were divided into four parts: Mahoneys Bridge replacement, Wallala Bridge replacement, Mahoneys Bridge approach roadworks, and Wallala Bridge approach roadworks.
Both structures and associated roadworks were required to be completed by 30 September 2019.
The contract was awarded as part of a process where the council reserved the right to award contracts for each part to a single or multiple contractors.
This contract reflects the ongoing need for local councils to maintain and upgrade aging bridge infrastructure, with the work split into multiple parts to attract a range of contractors and manage risk.
