South Metropolitan Health Service awarded a contract to Centigrade Medical Gases Pty Ltd for the replacement of the medical air (MA) system plant at Fremantle Hospital to achieve required air quality and compliance with AS 2568:2019.
The contractor supplied the MA plant (including air compressors, receiver, driers and filters), removed the existing dryer, installed the new MA plant and associated pipework, and carried out the demolition, electrical work and connection to the building management system (BMS).
The scope included purchase of the plant, installation, commissioning and certification of the system; the contractor was responsible for supply of plant, labour and equipment and for ensuring all works complied with AS 2568:2019 and relevant Australian and safety standards.
Contracts of this type required suppliers able to provide integrated supply, installation and certification of medical-gas systems, so firms with in-house medical gas plant, installation teams and commissioning capability are typically well-positioned to deliver such awards.
