About
Department of Logistics and Infrastructure awarded a contract to MG Electrical Services Pty Ltd for the upgrade and replacement of streetlighting on Stuart Highway between Stott Terrace and Herbert Heritage Drive in Alice Springs.
The Stott Terrace to Schwarz Crescent section was delivered to Principal‑provided design and was generally limited to upgrading existing streetlights in accordance with those drawings; where noted, installation of new streetlights was undertaken to meet lighting standards or project requirements.
Upgrades included replacement of existing luminaires with energy‑efficient LED fittings and installation of smart lighting controllers to support remote monitoring and adaptive lighting operations.
All upgraded and newly installed streetlighting assets were required to be recorded in the streetlight asset register in accordance with project requirements.
Works were required to be carried out by a Power and Water Corporation (PWC)–accredited contractor.
The Schwarz Crescent to Herbert Heritage Drive section was progressed under a provisional sum for full design development and streetlight upgrade works.
The contract combined Principal‑provided design on one section with a provisional‑sum design on another and mandated PWC accreditation and asset‑register updates, highlighting procurement emphasis on accredited electrical delivery, energy‑efficient LED replacements, smart‑control capability, and formal asset management.
