Department of Premier and Cabinet awarded a contract to Logica Australia Pty Ltd for the upgrade of the Tasmanian Government's Connect Email Service infrastructure from Microsoft Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010.
The contract covered leading the development and implementation of the end-state messaging infrastructure based on a high-level design commissioned from Microsoft Consultancy Services (Architecture and Design for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010).
The final infrastructure was to serve approximately 40,000 mailboxes and replace the existing technical environment described in the commissioned design.
TMD engaged Logica as the suitably qualified contractor to execute the migration and implement the target architecture.
The contract combined a vendor-produced Exchange 2010 architecture with an external systems integrator, reflecting a common approach for large-scale government email migrations where specialist consultancy design and experienced integrators are used to manage enterprise complexity and scale.
