Department of Housing and Works awarded a contract to Kimberley Civil and Drainage (Kimberley Civil and Drainage Pty Ltd) for construction works to upgrade the access and internal roads and the integrated drainage system at Mowanjum Community.
The scope included liaison with the Community Representative and coordination as necessary; preparation and implementation of approved management plans; establishment of a fenced contractor’s site facility and amenity yard; removal, stockpiling and shredding of vegetation and disposal of rubbish, debris and other deleterious material; stripping, stockpiling and redistribution of topsoil and shredded vegetation; excavating, placing and compaction of fill to level within the site; setting out and construction of roads, footpaths, kerbing, traffic calming devices and erection of signage; winning and reusing existing road pavement material as subbase for reconstructed roads; setting out and construction of driveways and crossovers; setting out and construction of stormwater drainage; liaison and coordination with Horizon Power for modification and installation of street lighting; liaison with Water Corporation to coordinate water and sewer renewal works to avoid interference with the road and drainage works; testing and commissioning of all works; full reinstatement of the site and leaving the works in a neat and tidy condition; provision of "As Constructed" plans for submission to the Local Authority for roads, drainage and earthworks; attendance at a Completion Inspection toward Practical Completion; and rectification of items arising from the Completion Inspection and during the Defects Liability Period.
The contract combined pavement rehabilitation, earthworks, stormwater drainage and utilities coordination, indicating requirements for a civil contractor capable of pavement reuse, comprehensive site management and stakeholder liaison on community infrastructure upgrades.
