About

The Commonwealth is seeking a supplier to serve as Lead Partner (RFT 13016) to provide research leadership and management services for the Operational Energy Transitions Defence Research Centre (OET DRC) and to deliver its Inaugural Research Projects (IRPs). Established under the Defence Innovation, Science and Technology Strategy 2026, the OET DRC will operate as a problem-led, outcome-focused centre that integrates Defence, academia, industry and international partners to accelerate the adoption, integration and transition of energy technologies into deployable Defence capability in support of the future Integrated Force. A separate Contributing Partner RFI (ATM ID 13457) is being run in parallel to assess market capability and interest; that process is separate from this RFT.

This opportunity is suited to organisations able to provide program- and project-level research leadership and management that can translate research into deployable energy solutions while working across Defence, academia, industry and international partners. Key considerations: the role focuses on applied, translational work (not basic research), must deliver operationally relevant outcomes aligned to Defence priorities, and will target areas where conventional market or program mechanisms are insufficient.
