Western Power is seeking providers to deliver Reliability Services and/or System Strength Services for the North Country after the Coordinator of Energy triggered a Non‑Co‑optimised Essential System Services (NCESS) procurement under clause 3.11A.4 of the Electricity System Market Rules. The North Country is defined as the area supplied by the Rangeway, Geraldton and Chapman substations. Western Power invites submissions for short‑term contracts (1–4 years) and long‑term contracts (10–25 years); proponents may participate in either or both options and may offer solutions that fully or partially meet the requirements. Activation requirements, performance measures, preferred connection locations and other technical requirements are set out in the final NCESS Service Specification, and submissions must be made via separate VendorPanel tenders for the short‑term and long‑term options. Tender closing is 5.00pm (AWST) on 12 October 2026 for short‑term and 5.00pm (AWST) on 1 February 2027 for long‑term; queries can be emailed to [email protected] or submitted via the VendorPanel Q&A. NCESS North Country Market Briefing was held on 22 June 2026.
