The consultant was engaged to lead the Strategy and Policy team and to oversee the development, implementation and execution of a program of works in the next stage of Westport, and to provide strategic input into other workstream programs.
The role included overseeing a suite of strategies and frameworks that provided inputs to Westport programs and projects, including productivity and workforce development, ESG and sustainability, Noongar opportunities and engagement, and resource efficiency.
The consultant advised and collaborated with other executive leadership team members, engaged internal and external stakeholders to obtain subject matter expertise and reach consensus on outcomes, and delivered team management, mentoring and development both within the Strategy and Policy division and elsewhere across Westport.
The contractor worked at or near full time in the Westport Offices for approximately six months, formed part of the executive leadership team with restricted decision‑making authority as a contractor, and was procured on an interim basis while the State government considered the scope of the next stage of Westport after completion of the Business Case; the Westport program was to respond in 2025, including establishing the right workforce and long‑term staffing of this role as required.
The award reflected a short‑term, embedded advisory model used to provide executive‑level policy coordination and cross‑functional strategy delivery during a transitional phase of a major port and supply‑chain program.
