Department of State Development awarded a contract to EYRE SHELLFISH PTY LTD for an Algal Bloom Fisheries and Aquaculture Assistance Grant of up to $225,000 to support eligible fisheries and aquaculture licence holders who were unable to catch or harvest their usual volume, had to stop operations due to extended harvest closures, or had their licence fees waived.

Successful grant recipients were required to enter into a grant agreement with the Minister for Small and Family Business, administered by DSD, to receive the approved grant.
The Chief Executive, Department of State Development approved an exemption from disclosure/redaction of the insurance details and licence numbers in grant agreements under Section 22.4 and 22.5 of Premier and Cabinet Circular 027 on the grounds of public interest and legal risk.
The award provided capped, administratively managed financial relief to an aquaculture licence holder impacted by algal blooms; the formal grant agreement requirement and the exemption for insurance and licence data indicate those items were treated as legally sensitive in the administration of relief payments.
